Unicorns, Zombies and Monsters: Cybersecurity & Things that go ‘Bump’ in the Innovation Ecosystem
Cyberattacks are growing in numbers each year and are causing damage to people,
companies and governments worldwide.
Lux Future Lab hosted its first Cybersecurity conference moderated by Patrick
WHEELER. With over 20 years work experience as a cybersecurity expert, educator
and practitioner, Patrick, focuses on programs securing the global financial sector.
He originally comes from San Francisco, California’s Silicon Valley.
What is Cybersecurity? Who are the cyber-criminals? What is a cyber-attack? Those
are the questions Patrick tackled during the presentation.
He took the audience into his world, shared key cautionary tales and described
recent cyber-attacks (Flooz, Stuxnet and Bangladesh Bank robbery..).
He delved into details regarding damages those attacks can cause and explained
how the companies responded to the incidents.
“We Are All High Value Targets…” P.Wheeler
After an interactive presentation, Patrick shared some best practices- the attendees
had then the opportunity to discuss with him the cybersecurity stakes.
It was a great discussion of “Unicorns, Zombies, Monsters: Cybersecurity and things that go
‘bump’ in the innovation ecosystem”.
Cybersecurity is one of the major topics at the moment and should not be ignored as
intrusion is inevitable. We should protect ourselves and be more secure. Responding
to a cyber-attack must be planned in advance!
Thank you to all participants who attended the Conference on 29th November and
debated issues affecting the security and identified solutions to make our digital
