Growth Hacking Workshop with Tomorrow Jobs 📈

On september 26th, the Lux Future Lab welcomed Tomorrow Jobs (they also launched a new recruitment service named The Missing One) for a workshop on Growth Hacking with our Startupers. Flash-back on what we have learned !

What's the Growth Hacking ?

The terminology "Growth Hacking" was imported by the american Sean Ellis and refers to several marketing techniques, used for making companies grow, especially Startups.

Growth hacking is not just about marketing, it's a real mindset.

The workshop

📎 After a quick introduction, our guests of the day dived into the subject by presenting some hacks which actually worked in big companies like AirBnb, DropBox or Hotmail.

For example adding a mention "PS: I love you. Get your free e-mail at Hotmail." with a link at the end of emails helped considerably Hotmail to grow its client base.

📎 As Sebastien said, Growth Hacking is not just about marketing techniques but also about analysing the ecosystem, the market and your rivals.

The example they took was pretty revealing!

When Takeru Kobayahsi has wanted to beat the hot dog eater record, he began with asking to the previous winners their methods to reach the victory. He analysed every component to develop his own method and then he suceeded in eating 63 hot-dogs in 12 minutes by deeping the bread in water and eating the sausage after... Don't underestimate your peripheral vision on your ecosystem!

📎 More concretely, they showed us the feed-back loop which breaks down in 6 steps :

  • You get the idea

  • You build your product/service

  • You test your solution on testers

  • You get the feed-back of the testers

  • If feed-back are good, you persevere

  • If feed-back are bad, you pivot

To conclude, it's important to use the "test & learn" method to build your solution while your business in already running. Test and readjust until you find the best formula!

  1. Acquisition

  2. Activation

  3. Retention

  4. Revenue

  5. Referral

📎 Finally the guys presented us different tools you can use to test your campaigns, here are a few :

  • Landen : creation of landing pages

  • Sendinblue : marketing e-mail for acquisition

  • Airtable : creation of data base

  • Google Tag Manager : tagging visitor behavior on your site

  • Calendly : allowing visitors on your site to take an appointment directly in your calendar

  • Zapier : connecting all your tools together

SĂ©bastien LefĂšvre and Vincent Courquet were very pleasant speakers and they answered all the questions of our startupers at the end of the meeting. A nice moment, thank you Tomorrow Jobs !
